Terra
Program

90-Day Transitional Sober Living

When you or someone you care about has completed Nova Counseling Services’ residential treatment program, the Terra Program is the supportive next step to sustained sobriety.

At the conclusion of Nova’s residential treatment program, you or your loved one might be experiencing what’s known in the addiction recovery world as “the pink cloud.”

It’s like a honeymoon phase of recovery, where sobriety feels easy and the future looks brighter than before. But often the euphoria doesn’t last.

The disappearance of the pink clouds can be like hitting a wall—and this vulnerable time is when many of the 40-60% of people with substance use disorder who relapse suffer a setback. That’s why you or your loved one can benefit from Terra, a transitional sober living program with a step-down model to help set a path for sustained recovery.

The licensed 90-day transitional sober living program provides a structured, therapeutic environment for men to continue their recovery and prepare to return to their family, career and community with strength and purpose.

This portion of our continuum of care includes the development of an individual recovery plan, increased independence, support for work or volunteering, sponsorship connection and 12-step programming.

What to Expect in our
Transitional Sober Living Program

The Terra Program is divided into four phases
Phase One

For at least 30 days, you or your loved one will focus on structure, accountability and support. Outings are limited to approved recovery-focused places, electronics use is scheduled, and work is not yet permitted.

Phase Two

For about 30 days, you or your loved one will gain more independence while keeping strong recovery support in place. Clients may come and go more freely using day passes and extended curfews. Up to 25 hours of work per week is allowed and electronics use is less restricted.

Phase Three

For another 30 days, you or your loved one will have more trust and independence, with the freedom to make informed choices about how to spend your time. Passes are available for extended curfews, overnight stays and weekends. Clients may work up to 25 hours and phone access is no longer restricted.

Phase Four

With a full commitment to recovery, you or your loved one’s discharge plan is completed.
