🌿 What is Kratom?

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. Its leaves contain active compounds that interact with opioid receptors in the brain.

Depending on the dose, kratom may:

• Increase energy and alertness (lower doses)

• Produce pain relief and sedation (higher doses)

• Cause euphoria similar to opioids

Although sold in smoke shops, gas stations, and online, kratom is not FDA-approved for treating pain, anxiety, or opioid withdrawal.

7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) is one of kratom's naturally occurring alkaloids—but many products now sold as "7-OH" contain highly concentrated or semi-synthetic versions that are significantly more potent than what occurs naturally in the plant.

These products are commonly sold as:

• Tablets

• Gummies

• Drink shots

• Capsules

• Powder

Many users report:

• Rapid tolerance

• Severe withdrawal symptoms

• Strong opioid-like effects

• Difficulty stopping despite wanting to quit

MGM-15 is a newer product marketed in some smoke shops and online retailers. It typically contains high-potency kratom alkaloids or modified mitragynine compounds, often promoted as a stronger alternative to traditional kratom.

Because these products are largely unregulated:

• Ingredients may vary from batch to batch.

• Potency can be unpredictable.

• Consumers often do not know exactly what they are taking.

Research on MGM-15 is extremely limited, but clinicians are increasingly concerned about its potential for misuse and dependence.
